The askadèle Score, explained
The askadèle Score, out of 100, sums up what a restaurant publishes and puts in place for people with allergies. It helps you compare restaurants. It never guarantees that an allergen is absent: always tell the waiter about your allergies before ordering.
The criteria
| Criterion | Points | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Allergen menu published | 30 | The restaurant has published its dishes and their allergens on askadèle. No published menu, no score. |
| Menu recently checked | 15 | The restaurant has confirmed its menu within the last 90 days. |
| Declared precautions | 15 | 5 points per precaution ticked by the restaurant (dedicated fryer, separate utensils, allergy lead…), up to a maximum of 3. |
| Trained team | 10 | At least one team member has passed the askadèle training quiz (80% correct answers) within the past year. |
| “Allergy-Aware Restaurant” label | 10 | The label is currently valid. |
| Family reviews | 20 | Based on the average rating of verified reviews: 1 star = 0 points, 5 stars = 20 points. So that a single review doesn’t decide everything, we add 3 “neutral” 3-star reviews to the calculation. With no reviews, this criterion is therefore worth 10 points. |
A safety rule
If a family has reported a severe reaction in a verified review less than a year old, the score is capped at 50/100, whatever the other criteria, and a message says so on the restaurant’s listing.
The levels
- 80 to 100: very complete
- 60 to 79: complete
- 40 to 59: needs more detail
- under 40: little information
What the score doesn’t tell you
- The information is declared by the restaurant: askadèle does not inspect kitchens.
- A restaurant without a score isn’t necessarily less careful: it simply hasn’t published its menu on askadèle yet.
- Restaurants cannot buy points: the Pro plan does not change the score.
